Why I Started Fasting (and Why You Might Like to Give it a Go)

I've been meaning to share this story with you for a while now, so grab a cuppa and let's chat about how I came into the world of fasting.
There I was, in my late 40's, thinking I would sail through the next stage of life with my healthy lifestyle, but heck no. I had major anxiety, mood swings (even Tilly our dog was annoying me!), sleep certainly wasn't my friend and the midline weight gain was starting to creep in and I was like, oh no, this isn't happening to me!I knew something had to change. As someone who's always been passionate about health, I couldn't just sit back and accept that this was my new normal. That's when I discovered intermittent fasting – I'd been fasting for years but not in the way that Dr Mindy Pelz teaches, a fasting expert and it was game changing.
What really got me excited wasn't just the potential to get rid of a few kilos (though, that was definitely a motivating factor!), it was learning how fasting could potentially help balance hormones, tap into the fat burning energy system (which can't happen if we're constantly eating) and the healing that happens at a cellular level when we go without food – repairing damaged cells, resetting your gut health, giving you a dopamine hit. And the best part? It wasn't about counting calories or being on a diet, it's just working with the body in a natural way – and it was easy!
But here's the thing – as I dug deeper into it, I realised this wasn't just about me. So many women like you are struggling with the same midlife challenges, feeling lost and unsure about how to navigate this next phase (or you might be out the other side and still struggling) – and I also know, there's a lot of conflicting information out there! That's why I'm on a mission to spread the word and help women take control of their health during this often misunderstood time of life.
From the women I've shared this journey with in my membership, they've not only lost weight as well, but they've had more stablised moods, they've changed their relationship with food, they've experienced reduced sugar cravings, and more balanced hormones. There is a belief out there that in your eating window, you can eat whatever you like but I believe that if you pair a fasting lifestyle with a nutrient dense balanced diet, you'll maximise your results even more! Win-win!
So that's why I'm running a FREE 3-DAY CHALLENGE – Fasting at 40+: A 3-Day Fasting Introduction starting on Monday, 17th February.
I want to give you the education and knowledge, and a short taste (pun intended!) of what fasting can do for you. It's a chance to dip your toes in, with support and guidance in a safe space.
Now, I know fasting isn't for everyone, just like exercising isn't for everyone (but everyone can benefit from it) but it's an incredibly powerful tool, backed by science. Please note, I'm leading this from my own personal experience and research, I'm not a medical expert, but what I can promise you is that I'll keep it in layman's terms that you'll easily understand. Even if you're on HRT (like I still am), this will definitely benefit you as it's about honouring your hormones where ever you're at on your journey (and it's actually easier to fast if you're post menopausal.
