Being in my late 40's hit me hard last year, I expected an easy peri-menopause journey with my healthy lifestyle, but heck no! Anxiety, mood swings, getting irritated with everyone around me and embarrassing memory loss moments were horrendous!

I turned to HRT after consulting my doctor. 

But hours of continued reading & learning lead to a new world of understanding and I now realise I jumped too fast, so armed with newfound knowledge, I’m on a mission to tackle this midlife naturally.

This has led to the 'Embracing Change During Midlife' focus in the Wicked Healthy Tribe (my online health & wellbeing membership), where my mission is to now personally get off HRT and treat this naturally.

So, what does it look like? Over the course of the year, starting in February in the tribe, we'll be focussing on these different areas: 

  • Intermittent Fasting: Sometimes labelled as a fad diet, fasting is actually how our ancestors used to live. Fasting is a healing state we put our body into. You'll learn safe practices, the different lengths of fasting and their benefits, the importance of using this tool in midlife, and when it's not suitable throughout our cycle to reduce stress.
  • Lowering Cortisol: A game-changer for stress and belly fat, but probably the hardest of all to implement 
  • Sleep: Ahhh, sleep, it's a catch 22 because you know how important sleep is, yet it's a menopausal women's biggest nightmare (but reclaiming our circadian rhythm is key!)
  • Nutrition: We'll focus on what to eat at different times of our cycle to encourage different hormones – plus, the best way to break your fast to maximise your results
  • Exercise: I'm no PT but what I've learnt is there are times in our cycle we can be working harder than others... let's make it work for us

What I know is what used to work in our 20s and 30s won't necessarily cut it in our 40s and 50s— once you hit 40, our hormones start to tank and our lifestyle needs to change and the sooner we wake up to that, the less pain and suffering we're going to have as you go through this journey.

Fasting isn't for everyone though, especially anyone pregnant, breastfeeding or who has a history of eating disorders.

I just want to make it super clear, I'm definitely no medical expert and this is not intended to substitute for professional medical advice, I'm just a fellow traveller sharing my personal experience & knowledge.
