Homemade Baked Beans

Ingredients
  • ½ T oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 400gm can tomato puree
  • 2 x 400gm cans of cannellini beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 t cumin powder
  • 1 T pure maple syrup
  • 1 T tomato paste
  • ½ t smoked paprika (optional)
  • salt and pepper
Instructions
  1. Heat the oil in a pot, add the garlic and onion and cook for 5 minutes, until soft. Add the tomato puree, the cannellini beans, cumin powder, maple syrup and tomato paste. Cook for a further five minutes until heated through. Lastly, add the paprika. Season with salt and pepper if desired. Serve on a salad or in a gluten free wrap.
