Recipe type: Snacks
Serves: 3-4
Ingredients
- 3 T olive oil
- 1 t paprika
- 1 t cumin powder
- ½ t onion flakes
- a good grinding of salt and pepper to taste
- 1 head cauliflower
Toppings
- pizza sauce or harissa paste
- pesto
- mushrooms, finely chopped
- red onion, finely chopped
- ¼ c parmesan cheese, grated
Instructions
- To make the cheesy cauliflower pizza steaks, preheat oven to 200 C. Line a baking tray with baking paper or a baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, mix the oil, spices, onion flakes and salt and pepper.
- Remove the leaves from the bottom of your cauliflower and leave the stalk in place. Slice the cauliflower in half. Then slice those two pieces in half to create your 'steaks'. Transfer them to your baking tray and brush all over (top, bottom and sides) with the oil and spices.
- Bake until the stalk is tender and golden brown, about 10 minutes each side. Remove from oven and sprinkle with the toppings, finishing off with the grated cheese cheese. Place back in the oven for a further 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and browned. You could grill them at this stage if you’re short on time. Serve hot.
